SCHOOL CLOSURE REMINDERS - NOVEMBER 1-2, 2021
Monday, November 1, 2021, is a Parent/Teacher Conference Day from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. School is closed for students.

Tuesday, November 2, 2021, is Election Day. School is closed for students.

TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Beginning on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, Bedford County Public Schools can no longer accommodate requests for daily changes with bus transportation. Students will only be permitted to ride their assigned bus or must be transported by private car. Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in schools, we must maintain assigned bus seats and carefully group students to assist with contact tracing investigations. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to maintain a safe environment for everyone.


MASK REQUIREMENT
Per the Executive Order of the State Health Commissioner, masks are required for students, staff, and visitors inside all school buildings.


FAMILIES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS
The Central Virginia Transition Council is proud to present virtual informational sessions for families of individuals with disabilities.
 

These informational Sessions will include:

  • Speakers from local agencies and vendors.
  • Opportunities for families to learn about school and community resources.
  •  Essential information to help support your student in their transition to adulthood.

All sessions will be held virtually via Zoom, 6pm-7pm

SCHOOL NUTRITION UPDATES
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a nationwide waiver to allow school divisions to provide free meals to all students regardless of income through school year 2021-2022. All students in Bedford County Public Schools will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch for the 2021-2022 school year.

Although school meals will be provided free to all children, it is still very important for families to fill out a meal application for the 2021-2022 school year. Approved free and reduced meal applications also help families qualify for certain division fee reductions and for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefits paid through the Virginia Department of Social Services.

The preferred way for families to apply is through the My School Apps online meal application process. Only one meal application is needed for each household. Click here for informational flyer.

SUMMER 2021 P-EBT PAYMENT 
All children who had an approved free or reduced meal application on file or who were enrolled in a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) school during the 2020-2021 school year may qualify to receive a one-time lump sum P-EBT benefit around August 25th. CEP schools include Bedford Elementary School, Bedford Primary School, Huddleston Elementary School, Liberty Middle SchoolMontvale Elementary SchoolStaunton River Middle School, and Stewartsville Elementary School. For more information, including Frequently Asked Questions about Summer P-EBT click on the information below.

SCHOOL BOARD INFORMATION
The Bedford County School Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting on October 14, 2021, in the School Board Office Conference Room located at 311 South Bridge Street, Bedford, VA.

The agenda for the 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. portion of the meeting includes a closed session to discuss personnel and legal matters, a dinner break, and, as time permits, staff reports and Informational items.

The Board will reconvene for the formal meeting at 7:00 p.m. for Action and Consent items.
